The article delves into the challenges faced when power is needed to reach vast distances, especially in rugged, challenging terrain. PowerLight’s work on DARPA‘s POWER program aims to tackle those issues using power beaming from a transmitter at one point, beaming power up to a drone or aircraft, then beamed back down to a receiver at the final use point. Additional drones may be utilized to extend the reach of the beamed power to amplify its reach.
